The animals of the Galapagos
Islands support the theory of creation. When the Galapagos Islands were first
found there were animals already on the Island. This means that the animals of
the Galapagos must have drifted in from shore. The animals of the Galapagos
Islands have been there for a long time. There are about 20 to 25,000 sea
turtles left there. This is a bad thing because the population of this type of
animal is coming down. The Galapagos are located 500 miles off the Western
coast of South America.
Science has led to the discovery
of the giant tortoises that went instinct 150 years ago. When Charles Darwin
found the islands, the animals were already there, meaning God put them there.
No one is sure how many animals or species were there when he found it. Most of
the animals on the Galapagos you won’t see anywhere else, no one really knows
why this is. The Giant Tortoise, 3 different types of Iguanas that are mainly
different colors, Sea lions, and many types of birds can only be found on the
Galapagos. The Iguanas can be 3 feet long and weigh 30 pounds or more. These lizards make little tunnels underground
to protect themselves from other animals. There are about 10 thousand or more
Iguanas left in the Galapagos, this number is increasing. These lizards can
stay underwater for 1 hour or more.
There are 7 types of these Iguanas, the Conolophus Subcristatus, the
pink iguana, and many more. There are also many species of crabs on the
Galapagos, one of these are the Lightfoot crab. These crabs are very colorful,
they are also one of the most colorful ones.
The Tortoise can live for more than 150 years, there are not many more
mammals left on the Galapagos. This is a bad thing because the population of
the animals are dying. There are Sea Lions on the Galapagos and they are the
largest mammals on the island. There are more than 50,000 Sea Lions on the
Galapagos with an increasing number. These can grow up to be up to 800 pounds
and 7 feet. When a Sea Lion is a pup he is very attached to their mother and do
not leave their side. The Galapagos Sea Lion mainly it fish, this does not affect
the research that scientist do on the Galapagos. Back to the turtles, these
animals were believed to be killed for their oil and food.
Galapagos Willet is a bird that can grow 33-41 centimeters and 16 inches in
length. The oldest Willet that was found was 10 years old and 3 months found in
California. They mainly eat insects, worms, and snails. They normally stay
around the shore, if you want to see one of these look around the shore. They
have 4 eggs at one time, or a couple extra. They stay around wet grassy places.
animals of the Galapagos Islands support creation considering they were there
way before man discovered the Galapagos.
The Sea turtle was believed to drifted in 3 million years ago. Meaning
God put them there not man.
