earth spaces are to build in and develop the use of underground spaces, this
could potentially offer an improvement in environmental damages, such as
controlling traffic congestion, air pollution, and noise levels, also providing
natural protection from destructive weather and seismic event can be offer in
the underground structure, as well as preservation of environment and
historical heritage

Cities such as China, Japan, and Toronto already started to expand
their networks of pedestrian underground and facility intending to resolve
overcrowding issues, projects such as the Low Line underground park started to
examine to hold a different kind of activities underground which have not been
thought of in early years. On the other hand, underground spaces have its
disadvantages; many important elements would have retreated from us such as
natural light and ventilation which are part of human daily necessities. With
the growing responsibilities of architects, comfort for users and environmental
considerations are increasingly important. Architecture is to become much more
than an image or shelters, but also able to serve in greater beneficial and meaningful
ways, to focus more on the requirement of basic human needs to fulfil

1.1       Methods and scope 

People are often less keen on having activities in underground
level, this is suggested by shops or flats pricing are more likely to be lower
and with less activity flow compared to ground level; this is because
underground is considered to be less comfortable. To amplify the use of
underground space for future possibility, internal layout and type of
activities suitable are to be considered with the possible impact and effect
could have in both physical and perception to the human body. With certain
natural elements will have retreated in underground settings, the temperature,
view, smell, and noise will differ in building on ground level, the literature
review will therefore to show the importance and these changes could cause on
human bodies.

This study examines the relationship of light, temperature, view,
smell and noise to human satisfaction levels and their conditions; looking at
the living, working and leisure located underground how architect design
influence on how we percept space, and health of our body.  These research will be carried out by primary
data collection and user’s questionnaire. Furthermore, I will evaluate a
suggested method of the multi-complex arrangement according to the human best
fitting from finding newly developed technology to be used as supplements to
replace human needs factors retreated to the underground level.
